Hi, my name is Charlie. I was rescued from northern Saskatchewan where I was homeless, had a very bad case of mange, and was quite malnourished. My sister was rescued a few weeks before me, and she is now in Vancouver and doing really well! They could not catch me at the same time as my sister because I was too frightened of people (and too smart to be caught!), but I am so glad that the rescue finally cornered me because I was very close to being killed because of my skin condition. 😢 They tell me that now I have a chance of perhaps knowing what it means to have someone care for, and love, me. 💖 I am so grateful.
I am now also on multiple medications to treat my mange and infections, so I am no longer contagious to anyone, and I am feeling so much better that I have been acting like a puppy again! My hair is beginning to grow back, and I have lots of energy to run and play with other dogs. I have also recently started to enjoy the company of people. I will sometimes jump up on the volunteers to get them to play - so I have been told that now I have to start working on my "manners". Sheesh! 😏 I am still trying to figure out what to do with "toys", but I'm sure I will get it one day.
I am a very sweet and smart boy who is not too large, but who has been through a lot of trials in my life. I dream of finding a home where the family will be patient with me while my skin and coat heals, while I learn how to live inside a house and the biggest hurdle of all - to trust humans again. I would so love to go on hikes, to meet and play with other dogs, to curl up with my people to watch a movie or take a nap, to learn to play fetch, or just to find that "best friend" that I have always been looking for. 🙏
If you would like to meet me, please fill in an application to adopt. I would love to meet you!
Paws and Kisses, Charlie 🐾
